Scheme scrapped for Sherburn

One business decides not to approve the 1.4 million pound project.

Selby District Council says its regrettably taken the decision to halt proposals to redevelop the centre of Sherburn in Elmet.

Following months of negotiations with local landowners, the 1.4 million pound project to build a new public square and clock tower has been scrapped.

The scheme couldn't progress without concent from all local landowners who would be effected during the building work.

The council says any further negotiations will delay the work beyond March 2010, meaning funding can't be guarenteed.

Therefore it's taken the decision not to go ahead with it.
