Teenage cyclist injured on railings in York

A car cut the cyclist up forcing him into the railings that line the pavement on the corner of Bootham and St Leonards.

Police are investigating a collision between a bike and a car on the junction of Bootham and St Leonards Place, York. The incident happened at around 19.45hrs on Sunday 19 June 2016, when both the cyclist and car were travelling from St Leonards onto Bootham.

The car cut the cyclist up forcing him into the railings that line the pavement on the corner. The cyclist collided with the railings and he came off over the top of the railings, causing injury to his ribs. Hospital treatment was not needed but the cyclist has sustained a deep graze and bruising to his ribs. The car, described as a Vauxhall and silver in colour, did not stop. A member of staff from a shop nearby came out to check if the cyclist was ok.
