Appeal to find homes for these North Yorkshire rescue dogs
Woodhaven Second Chance Rehoming at South Milford near Selby want to find new owners for some of the dogs who have been with them the longest.
An animal shelter near Selby is appealing for help to find loving homes for some of their dogs for the new year.
The team at Woodhaven Second Chance Rehoming at South Milford is especially keen to find new owners for those animals who have been with them the longest.
Whilst the message that 'a dog is for life, not just for Christmas' is clearly important at this time of year, potential owners who have thought seriously about making a dog a part of their lives for the long-term, are being asked to consider giving a rescue dog a new start for the new year.
The organisation will also check that any new homes and owners are suitable for a four-legged friend.
Katie Simpson, a volunteer at Woodhaven says,
All animals are microchipped, flead, wormed, vaccinated and neutered before leaving and we carry out homechecks.
It would be a great start to 2019 for some of our longest-serving residents to find homes!
The rehoming organisation is currently appealing to find homes for these five dogs...
1. Whinny the Shar Pei will make a great companion for the right owner...
Whinny is a 5 year-old female Shar Pei. She is very bouncy and excitable and therefore will need an home with older teenagers/adults only. She is looking for an experienced owner as she is reactive on the lead.
She would need to be the only pet in the home and need a secure garden with fencing of over 6ft. She would prefer someone who is around a lot of the time as she love attention.
She will make a great companion for the right owner.
2. Olive the Shar Pei is a very sweet girl and loves to zoom around and go for walks...
Olive is Whinny's sister and is also a 5 year old female Shar Pei. She can be reactive with other dogs so is looking for a home as the only pet.
Ideally we are looking for an experienced owner who knows about the breed. Again she would need an older teenage/adult only home with a secure garden with at least 6ft fencing.
Olive is a very sweet girl and loves to zoom around and go for walks.
3. Loki the Lurcher loves company and cuddling up on the sofa next to you...
Loki is approx 4/5 years old and is a Lurcher. He came to us as a stray at the very end of 2017. He was adopted but unfortunately he found himself back with us.
Loki can be reactive with other dogs. It is likely he was previously a poaching dog and so he does have quite a high prey drive so no small dogs or furries.
He is looking for a home with children of 8+ and a secure garden with over 6ft fencing. Loki is a very sweet boy. He loves company and cuddling up on the sofa next to you.
He has a good level of training and adores company.
Loki will make a fantastic pet and we are extremely surprised he is still with us.
4. Baxter the Staffie has a lot of energy and loves to play fetch!
Baxter is our longest resident. He has been with us since June. Baxter didn’t have the best start in life and was passed around a bit.
He is only about 18 months old and still learning. Because of his bad start in life Baxter wasn’t properly socialised which has left him reactive to dogs.
This means he is looking for an experienced owner with no other pets. He is a very bouncy boy and would need to live with older teenagers/adult only and a secure garden with 6ft fencing.
Baxter is a lovely young Staffie who has come on leaps and bounds since he arrived to us. He has a lot of energy and loves to play fetch!
5. Callie the German Shepherd/Husky cross will make a fab family pet...
Callie is a 1 year old female German Shepherd cross Husky.
She is quite a big dog and is still a puppy, and so is learning. She is strong on the lead and would need some training. She could live with another dog after successful introductions, but not with cats.
She could live with children of 10+ due to her excitability. Callie is looking for an active home, preferably with a medium/large garden with 6ft fencing.
She doesn’t really like being left alone for to long so is preferably looking for a home where someone will be around for most of the day.
She loves to cuddle up on the sofa with you and will make a fab family pet
