Change of plea in connection with North Yorkshire crash
Guilty of manslaughter
A coach company boss and a driver have pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a crash in North Yorkshire that killed a married couple.
Paul and Deborah Clements lost their lives in the collision on the A64 at Staxton Hill near Scarborough on September 21st 2008.
52 year old Robert Oughton and his boss 60 year old John Lote pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of gross negligence.
That's because the coach involved in the collision was not kept in a safe and roadworthy condition.
Oughton also pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving.
Both were bailed ahead of sentencing on November 13th.
The Judge told them "The only appropriate sentence for offences like these is custody."
