Violent crime reduces in York by 55% when comparing 2007 to 2009
Operation ALTN8 is a success
North Yorkshire Police's Operation ALTN8 has been hailed a success as violent crime has been halved in York city centre.
Since it was launched in June high-visibility police patrols have helped reduce drink and drug related harm.
The stats compare the last three months with the same period from 2007, showing a drop from 155 violent crimes to 69.
