Remarkable new singer debuts with York band

hey will be debuting their powerful new lead singer Alice Wilson at Lendal Cellars on 14 July as part of the venue’s Originals Night.

Slack Habits is the snappy new name for These And The Other Guy who have already received local and regional attention in recent years for their distinctive mix of blues, rock and smoky ballads.

They will be debuting their powerful new lead singer Alice Wilson at Lendal Cellars – an atmospheric brick-arch cellar off St. Helen’s Square, York - on 14 July as part of the venue’s Originals Night.

Slack Habits gave audiences a glimpse of some new material in February when they released The Other Woman, their first single with Alice. The video gained the band a small army of new Facebook fans

Andy Wilson (no relation!), songwriter with the band, says:

“When Alice joined the band we decided to change our name to something that gives a better sense of what kind of band we are.

It was a risk so were excited when the single went down so well and now we're really looking forward to playing live again.

It’s been ages, but Alice is such an amazing front for the band that it's been worth the wait!"

Alice’s voice has been compared to the late Amy Winehouse because of its raw intensity and she has a background in musical theatre, which is a perfect fit with Slack Habits’ unique blend of blues and passion, rock and cabaret.

The band’s sound has been described as blues-rock but with hints of reggae, funk and more. Many of their fans say there is no band like them around and they certainly offer something distinctive and exciting to the Yorkshire music scene!

Slack Habits are delighted to be appearing at Lendal Cellars, which is a great venue to kick-start Alice's career with them. They will be taking the stage on 14 July at 8pm and entry is free. For more information on Slack Habits, follow them on Facebook:
