Police seek car driver after York crash

A car driver may hold clues to an accident on York outer ring road, which saw a trailer full of sheep overturning.

Police are trying to trace a small red hatchback which left the scene of the crash on the A1237 on Wednesday afternoon.

They say the driver may have essential information about the cause of the collision, which took place at the Strensall roundabout.

None of the sheep were injured but the animals did escape onto the road and the route had to be closed while the animals were herded into a nearby field.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation, in particular the car driver.
