Police in York have condemned those responsible for leaving large amounts of litter on the riverside in the city centre.
They've shared pictures on social media, taken last night, showing rubbish scattered along Kings Staith - including beer cans and bottles.
We can think of stronger words to describe peoples attitudes to public drinking and leaving litter everywhere at the moment, but #DontBeATosser will have to do! It’s your City people, look after it @CityofYork @minsterfm @yorkpress This is happening all over York at the moment☹️ pic.twitter.com/8dsnyUaRFi

Earlier this week, similar pictures taken on the Knavesmire showed debris, including soiled nappies, left behind by people who'd been enjoying the relaxation of lockdown rules.

City of York Council is trying to tackle the problem, with its "Don't be a tosser" signs aimed at persuading people to take their litter home or dispose of it properly.
Cllr Denise Craghill, executive member for safer communities and housing, said:
“As lockdown lifts, understandably people want to meet up.
Many have been great at social distancing but some forget to take their litter home – and we want them to be great at clearing up after themselves too. "
