Call for North Yorkshire to get a share of a Government Flood Grant

Vale of York MP calls for remainder of Government flood grant to come to Pickering and Thirsk.

The Vale of York MP Anne McIntosh is trying to draw attention away from her own potential deselection problems, by voicing her concerns about flood protection.

She says rural areas, like Pickering and Thirsk, have been overlooked by the Environment Secretary Hilary Benn.

He's allocated just over 9 million - out of a total pot of 16 million - to big cities like Leeds, Hull and Nottingham.

Meanwhile, Anne could be ousted by her own political party in 8 days time at a Thirsk and Malton Conservative Association meeting.
