Youth Unemployment at Highest Level for 16 Years

With GCSE results out tomorrow - local residents in York are concerned about the rising number of youths out of work.

Amid the recession theres growing concern the Government aren't doing enough to help young people.

Nationally youth unemployment is at its highest level for sixteen years.

Here in North Yorkshire theres 2,515 people aged between 16 and 25 claiming job seekers allowance in compared to 2, 285 at the start of the year.

Local Councillor Madeline Kirk wants the Government to promote more apprenticeships to make teenagers more employable in the current jobs market.
