VIDEO - York village leaves UK and makes murder legal
It's only a story which could soon be a new film made in York
A feature film about a village that doesn't just brexit but does a complete exit is being crowd funded in York. The Book Club is the first feature length film from York based independent film company RedShirt Films. It focuses on a man who has seceded his cul de sac from the UK and made murder legal.
The film will focus on six months in the lives of a community of murderers and all round terrible human beings. It's an ambitious and slightly bonkers project stuffed with classic horror practical effects and terrible, horrible people.
Think British Bake Off meets Silence of the Lambs.
Through great levels of planning and clever design the crew can fund the entire production on the relatively small budget of £25,000. They have most of the film and sound recording equipment that they need as well as the space and time to edit the film.
The money raised by this campaign will cover
• Cast and crew food / water
• Travel costs for London based actors
• Petrol to move crew and kit to filming locations
• Film quality lighting
• Two articulated dead bodies (FAKE!)
• Lots of blood and guts (ALSO FAKE!!)
• Battery operated smoke machine hire
• Post production sound design
• Original score composition
• Festival entries
