Minstermen hit for 6 at Gateshead

York City's supporters will have that all too familiar sinking feeling after a dismal second half performance against Gateshead which saw them slide to a 6-1 defeat.

York City's supporters will have that all too familiar sinking feeling after a dismal second half performance against Gateshead which saw them slide to a 6-1 defeat.

City had made had made a decent start to life in the National League, they were unbeaten after 3 matches. However last nights mauling could be reason to believe a return to the football league can't be achieved at the first attempt.

It's not the first time York have folded in the second half, a similar match last season saw City beaten by the same scoreline at Portsmouth, they were level at half time that night too. Last nights showing had to be even worse though, Portsmouth are far stronger than Gateshead and the 6-1 scoreline at Fratton Park could be partly attributed to Jonathon Greening's red card.

The result has left City's support questioning the ability of the clubs players and management.

The Minstermen travel to Forest Green on Saturday in need of a vastly improved performance if they want to ease the concerns of the supporters.
