Two join York City on loan
Aarran Racine and Rhys Murphy have joined from Forest Green Rovers.
York City have completed the signing of Forest Green Rovers defender Aarran Racine subject to National League approval.
The 25-year-old centre half has signed an initial loan deal until January and could make his debut in Saturday’s National League encounter at Tranmere Rovers.
Born in Worthing, Racine started his career with the Southampton Academy in 2007, progressing through the Saints youth system before departing for Forest Green Rovers on his release in the summer of 2012.
The New Lawn is where the 6ft 2in defender has remained ever since, making a total of 117 appearances across four-and-a-half seasons, as well as being appointed club captain at the start of the current campaign.
Similarly, striker Rhys Murphy joined York City from National League rivals Forest Green Rovers subject to National League approval.
The 26-year-old has put pen-to-paper on an initial loan deal until January and could make his debut in Saturday’s National League encounter at Tranmere Rovers.
A product of the Arsenal Academy, Murphy experienced loan spells with Brentford and Preston North End whilst with the North London outfit, before departing permanently for Dutch second division side Telstar in June 2012.
Following a season in Holland, where the forward netted seven goals in 28 league appearances, he returned home and signed for Dagenham & Redbridge on a two-year deal.
After netting 14 goals in 41 league outings over the next year-and-a-half, League One side Oldham Athletic snapped up the goalscorer for a fee believed to be in the region of £20,000 in February 2015.
Last season saw Murphy spend time on loan at Crawley Town, where he bagged himself nine goals from 15 league appearances, and then League Two play-off winners AFC Wimbledon.
At the start of summer another move materialised for the 6ft 1in striker as Forest Green Rovers paid a nominal fee for his services and since then, Murphy has made 17 outings for the Gloucestershire club, scoring seven goals, including one against the Minstermen in a 2-1 defeat at The New Lawn in August.
