York City Knights head coach James Ford has said he is “really pleased” with what the club achieved on transfer deadline day.
The Knights added forwards Jordan Cox and Ross Osborne, before also bringing in Zeus Silk on the final day of trading. Osborne and Silk join from Super League side Hull FC, while Cox comes in from Championship team Sheffield Eagles.
All three players join on a loan basis and are available to be used in the first of the clubs Super 8s encounters, against Toronto Wolfpack.
The move will mark a return to Bootham Crescent for 19-year-old Ross Osborne, following a loan spell back in 2016.
Speaking ahead of Sundays match, coach Ford is aiming for the players to have a positive impact on the squad.
“Hopefully they’ll help improve us, drive the standard up in training with competition for places and give us a couple of different options if we choose to set up differently on the weekend. Jordon will give us a bit of punch, as will Ross. Zeus will give us some cover in the back row.”
Ford added that the level of support the team has received this season played an important part in being able to bring in new players.
“We wouldn’t have been able to do that if it weren’t for how well the people have been getting behind us this year. Obviously, that makes a massive difference in the mindset of the club.”
The Knights begin their Kingston Press League One Super 8s campaign on Sunday against Toronto Wolfpack, kick-off 3pm.
