York Christmas Light Switch on with the York BID in partnership with Make It York

Duncombe Place outside the York Minster, Thursday 14th November, from 5.30pm

FREE ENTRY

There will be a Minster FM roadshow from 5.00pm. There will also be live music from the Pop Choir and the Shephard Group Brass Band. The lights will be turned on at 7.00pm. Plus special guest appearances from Martin Barrass, Susie Cooper and David Leonard the cast of the York Theatre Royal Panto Sleeping Beauty.

Burn Christmas Light Switch On

Saturday 23rd November from 3pm to 6pm

FREE ENTRY

Held across Burn Village. With a Christmas Tree Festival and refreshments available in the chapel. See Christmas Market stalls open in the chapel schoolroom from 2.30pm. Enjoy live music from Paula Marie the Vintage Vocalist from 3pm. Festive activities on the village green from 4.45pm with lights switched on at approximately 5.00pm by Martin Wedgwood, North Yorkshire Police Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Selby and the Minster Monster! 5.20pm Santa arrives with gifts for the children.

Haxby Christmas Light Switch On

Thursday 28th November

Join Minster FM at the Haxby Christmas Light Switch on which will be scattered all over the centre. Starting at 6.00pm at Haxby Memorial Hall/Co-op for the first light switch on of the evening followed at the Shopping Arcade at 6.20pm and finally Tree On The Green at 6.40pm. At each individual light switch on there will be Carols by Generation Groove and Community Chorus. Followed by some words by Rev. Kathryn Jackson and Mark Guilford the chair of Haxby Town Council.

As well as the light switch on's there will be Rockin’ Rudolph in the Co-op carpark, Late Night opening from Members of Haxby & Wigginton Traders Association.

There will be refreshments provided by Haxby Town Council after the Tree On The Green Lighting which will be available from the front forecourt of Millers Fish & Chips.

Selby Christmas Lights Switch On and Christmas Market

Market Place, Saturday 30th November, 10am to 5pm

FREE ENTRY

Selby Town Council is switching on the Christmas Lights from the Market Place. There will also be a fabulous Christmas Market with over 40 stalls from 10am to 5pm on the Market Place and there will be entertainment throughout the day at the Minster FM Roadshow stage. Marina Mae at 10am and Folkish performing at 3.15pm, as well as local schools and choirs.

Santa will be making an appearance at 12:30pm. The Mayor of Selby will be switching on the Christmas Lights at 4pm at the Tree.

Pickering Christmas Light Switch On

Market Place Pickering, Saturday 30th November from 3pm to 6pm

FREE ENTRY

Join Ben & Laura at the Minster FM stage at 3pm with Magic Mike the magician, followed by Joseph Rowntree School singing. With the Lions Santa Sleigh arriving at 4:45pm ready for the light switch on at 5:30pm with Helen Haythorne. The Silver Brass Band will be performing at the tree after the light switch on to end the evening. Plus; treasure hunt, market stalls, fun fair, raffle and food & drink stalls.
