Acorn Meats is a traditional family-run butchers shop which has been open since 1974. They provide a wide range of quality meats and homemade meat products from their shop in Acomb on Front Street.

They also stock bacon, gammon, burgers, a great BBQ selection, home cooked pies, and sausages rolls. Their handmade sausages are always popular and the promotions counter has some outstanding offerings, including an extended 3 for £10 range and 2 for £5 selection. St Leonard's Hospice

St Leonard’s Hospice is an independent charity providing specialist palliative care and support for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Every patient is recognised and treated as an individual and is able to enjoy the best possible quality of life.

In addition to a team of experienced doctors and nurses, the Hospice has specialists in a range of roles including complementary therapy, lymphoedema care, physiotherapy, social work and bereavement.

This outstanding care is free of charge for patients but not free to provide – St Leonard’s relies heavily on the generosity of the public to raise over £5 million each year.
