Nationwide appeal after Acomb man's death

A nationwide appeal's being made to people who went to the Leeds Festival after a pedestrian was killed in a crash near Tadcaster.

27 year old Andrew Kennedy from Acomb died when he was struck by a blue heavy goods vehicle on the A659 at Headley Bar.

Officers believe people travelling too or from the music festival may be important witnesses.

Andrew's family have just released this statement:

“Andrew was a much loved son, husband and brother and we are all truly devastated by his sudden and tragic death. He and his wife were devoted to one another and had a wonderful and bright future ahead of them which has sadly been cut short. Andrew was an extremely special person to us and all who knew and met him.  He was a gifted, intelligent and genuine young man with many, many attributes.

He was expected to excel in his career as a senior recruiter and was due to begin a second masters degree in Business and Human Resources this September.

In his spare time Andrew was an avid reader, loved his music and was a season ticket holder at Burnley Football Club. He was ecstatic to see the club gain promotion to the Premiership at Wembley in May.

Andrew will leave a great void in all of our lives and will never be forgotten.”
