Ryedale District Council says it's paid out more than £20 million in grants to local businesses during the Covid 19 shutdown.
The authority says it's processed 100 per cent of the first wave of applications, which puts it in the top 25 of councils.
The money is to help firms hit by the pandemic and the national lockdown and is part of a Government aid package.
A grant of up to £25,000 is available for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a rateable value of between £15,000 and £51,000.
£10,000 is available through the Small Business Grant, as part of the government’s package of support to help businesses during the COVID outbreak.
Through the scheme, businesses in receipt of small business rate relief, retail relief and rural rate relief can claim £10,000 in grant funding to help them to stay afloat during the lockdown period.
Councillor Keane Duncan, Leader of Ryedale District Council, said:
“I’m really proud of our teams and their commitment to supporting lives and livelihoods during these uncertain times. Over 1600 individual businesses have received the support they’re entitled to and we’re not stopping at that. We’re doing all we can to process the latest wave of businesses who are eligible for support.
What’s more, we’ve launched a £40k Emergency Grants Fund to provide vital financial support to cash-strapped charitable organisations across the district.”
Ryedale District Council has written to people who are eligible for a grant, to remind them to complete the online form, which captures the necessary details to make the grant payment.
The relevant forms are available on www.ryedale.gov.uk/business-support under the Small Business Grant section and can be filled in now.
The council’s specialist business team can be contacted on business@ryedale.gov.uk.
