A major part of Fire and Rescue is now preventing a fire or accident in the first place
With the COVID-19 situation and the Lockdown measures in place, Red Watch in Acomb has not being going out into our communities or visiting our local schools like they usually to.
So they are taking to social media to plug the gap.
You can now send in your questions to their Twitter account and Facebook pages instead.
You can send a message either as a video or text format message.
Children should get help from parents or guardians before sending.
Mike Sutcliffe, Acomb Fire Station Crew manager, said:
"The initiative is being launched to help us engage with children and other members of the community to answer any questions that they might have.
This is also a good way for us to get our safety messages out there and educate kids and other members of the community on things like fire safety in the home, road safety and water safety.
At schools we got inundated with a wide variety of questions from the kids, this is also a good opportunity for the them to have a look at the fire appliance and see some of the equipment that we carry.
We are obviously an operational crew so we can't promise we will answer every question straight away"
