Body found in search for missing York man

Police searching for missing York man, Nick Gunnell, have recovered a body from the River Ouse. 

Officers were alerted by kayakers on the river between Scarborough Bridge and Clifton Bridge yesterday afternoon. 

Although the man hasn't been formally identified, Mr Gunnell's family have been informed. 

A post mortem and formal identification will now be carried out and a report prepared for the coroner. 

Police divers were involved in the search for Mr Gunnell last week.

Nick Gunnell, 55, was last seen around 11.20 am last Thursday (30 June) at his home address on Holgate Road in York.
