Princess Beatrice gets married in secret ceremony in Windsor

Princess Beatrice has got married in a secret wedding ceremony attended by the Queen.

The royal - ninth in line to the throne - married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a COVID-secure wedding in All Saints Chapel, Windsor Great Park, this morning.

The Queen and Prince Philip attended the ceremony after the couple's plans for a larger celebration were scuppered by the coronavirus pandemic.

It is understood around 20 guests were there, including the bride's father Prince Andrew.

Under new guidelines for weddings in England during the pandemic, no more than 30 guests are allowed to attend and social distancing rules should be obeyed.

The royal wedding was originally due to take place on 29 May at the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace.

In March, shortly before the UK's coronavirus lockdown, the couple announced they were cancelling their wedding reception in the gardens at Buckingham Palace.

Princess Beatrice's husband, who is also known as Edo, is an Italian businessman and property tycoon.

The couple got engaged in Italy last September following a whirlwind romance.

In a statement at the time, they said: "We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can't wait to be married.

"We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness."

Their families have been friends for many years, and the pair are said to have started a relationship after meeting again at Beatrice's sister Princess Eugenie's wedding.

Princess Beatrice had earlier split from her long-term boyfriend Dave Clark after 10 years together.
