Police release CCTV of cyclist who hit man, 72, in fatal London crash

Police have released CCTV images of a cyclist after an elderly man was hit by a bike and died.

Peter McCombie, 72, suffered serious head injuries when he was struck near Thames Magistrates' Court in Bow, east London, on the afternoon of 3 July, Met Police said.

He died in hospital eight days later.

The cyclist involved in the crash failed to stop at the scene and abandoned his bike before running off, the Met added.

Detectives are releasing CCTV images in a bid to find him.

DI Julie Trodden said: "Peter was an active man who had continued to work beyond retirement age.

"As a result of this collision, his family, friends and colleagues are now mourning his loss.

"I am appealing to anyone who recognises this man or saw him leaving the scene to call police.

"I continue to appeal directly to the cyclist involved - please come forward to assist this investigation but, more importantly, to provide answers to the victim's family, who are grieving the tragic loss of a loved one."
