York Racecourse is this Sunday once again set to extend a warm welcome to Gracia Directa, the German-trained filly who has shown her liking for the track with a Group 3 victory and second in her two starts on the Knavesmire.
Trainer Dominik Moser brings his charge across from near Hamburg for the Betfred Garrowby Stakes, a six-furlong Listed contest offering a record £37,000 in prize money.
Gracia Directa won the 32Red Summer Stakes, a Group 3 over course and distance in 2012 and only found Ladies Are Forever too good when she sought a repeat success in the race earlier this summer.
Moser confirmed: "She loves York and we love York, so we are coming. The horse will arrive there tomorrow and I'll be arriving on Sunday.”
"We must be happy if we are in the first three but we are coming to win. She seems good."
Gracia Directa has been a real star for Moser over the last two seasons and put up a bold show on her latest outing. The daughter of Kyllachy finished runner-up in a Listed race at Hoppegarten.
So, Moser is looking forward to seeing if Gracia Directa can get her head back in front after back-to-back seconds. He just wishes he had other horses to accompany his star filly on her forays to Yorkshire.
He said: "York is my absolute favourite racetrack – there are so many friendly people. I would like to come with more but we haven't got enough good ones for York. Next year the horses will be a little bit better, I hope, and I will come to York (with them)."
York’s seven-race card on Sunday offers over £100,000 in total prize money and the first thoroughbred contest is at 2pm.
