York City Knights are pleased to announce that they have added more depth to their Championship back line options with the re-signing of Perry Whiteley.
The 25 year old centre initially joined the Knights from Keighley Cougars on transfer deadline day last season, and scored three tries in his two appearances.
Dewsbury born Perry started his Rugby League career coming through the youth ranks at the Huddersfield Giants, before moving to Australia where he spent two seasons with Young RL in Country Rugby League, prior to returning home to England in the 2015 season and signing with Workington Town.
Whiteley spent two seasons at Derwent Park in which time he made 39 appearances and scored 14 tries before moving to Sheffield for 2017. During his sole year in South Yorkshire, Whiteley appeared in 17 games as the Eagles finished runners-up in the Championship Shield.
Head Coach James Ford said:
“This isn’t Perry’s first barn dance - He’s played plenty of Championship rugby for both Sheffield and Workington.
He has the potential to be a quality player for the Knights if his attitude towards hard work and attention to detail is where it needs to be.
I’m looking forward to working with Perry and facilitating his development.”
The 21 players now officially signed on...
