Fire crews from York Red Watch have helped two teenagers out of the river just north of York.
They were on the Ouse today giving safety advice to young people out swimming in the hot weather.
They spotted the two teenagers in the water at Beningbrough Hall and went in to help them to safety.
Although the weather is very hot river temperatures haven't caught up and there is the danger of currents and cold water shock.
Station Manager Bob Hoskins says that although there were many people around the bank at the time they hadn't noticed that that the teens were in trouble.
He says anyone wishing to swim in the Ouse needs to think about the following:
Can you get out once you are in? This is a big issue in the city centre around King's Staith.
Do you know where the life saving equipment is?
Do you know how deep the river is because the water gets very cold in the deeper parts.
Is someone watching out for you? Never swim alone.
Can you quickly call for help if someone gets into trouble?
Swimming in wild water is always going to be a risk and you should think very carefully before you go in.
