My Tender Trench, recently nominated for best play at the Tehran Theatre Festival and due to be performed in the open air in York, has been postponed til next year.
It follows news that the 1940s York in the Blitz event has been cancelled
The play has been written by the Emmy winning writer, JR Villar and had in the cast three brilliant local actors;
Oliver J Brooke, a very well-known actor and musician in York, recently seen as “Thomas” in the York Minster Mystery Plays;
Elizabeth-Mae Starbuck, seen in York Minster Mystery Plays and recently won 'Best Actor in a film' at the Northern Star Awards.
Also in the cast is Toby Bull seen in The Railway Children and Stop Hate UK.
It's the story of a soldier and a young girl who get trapped in a trench.
They discuss duty and what is right or wrong in a war, but when an enemy is captured by the soldier everything is going to change.
João Villar told Minster FM
I decided to postpone "My Tender Trench" till next year as it will be the 100th Commemorations of the end of the war.
Maybe at that time it will be easier to present it and even do a little tour outside York
