If you're stuck for something to do at the weekend then look no further. In North Yorkshire there are thousands of sights to see – you just have to find them. At Minster FM we have found a range of things for you to do this weekend which are guaranteed to brighten up your weekend.

1. York Cat Trail
Did you know there is a trail of cats to find in the York city centre?
Historically, people in Yorkshire thought cats were lucky and cat statues were placed on buildings as people believed the cat statues would help bring them good luck and would help scare away rats and mice.
Just head over to the York Lucky Cat Store in the Shambles and grab a free copy of the cat trail map or if you're feeling lucky you could try and find them all by yourself.
2. The Yorkshire Dales
If you want a change of scenery the Yorkshire Dales is the place you’re looking for.
The Yorkshire Dales is famous for its landscape scenery. Most people go on short walks around the deep valleys and explore the surrounding towns and villages. There is so much to explore with something for everybody whether it is attractions for the children or cycling around the Yorkshire Dales.
If you want to explore the outdoors the Yorkshire Dales is the place to be.

3. Flamingo Land
If you love animals don’t forget about Flamingo Land this weekend. Just because their theme park area is closed until the 1st April 2017 that does not mean the rest of park is closed.
Flamingo Land will give you a fun filled weekend with 140 different species to view including reptiles, fish and mammals. The park has something for all the family to enjoy from a selection of five small rides for the kids to daily animal encounters to experience giraffes, meerkats and sea lions first hand.

4. York Boat Cruises
Ever experienced a cruise on York River Ouse? Now is your chance with YorkBoat.

5. Duncombe Park
Explore the countryside this weekend at Duncombe Park - Yorkshire’s leading historic estates.
At Duncombe Park the house is closed to the public but the landscape garden, the National Centre for Birds of Prey, and the surrounding parkland are open to visitors. Take a trip around the countryside or see the spectacular flying demonstrations of birds from the largest collection of birds of prey in the North of England.

6. The Original Ghost Walk of York
Do you believe in ghosts?
The Original Ghost Walk of York was established in 1973 and is believed to be the first Ghost Walk in the world. You will walk in the footsteps of those who have passed before you and will be told about the hidden magic of the Ancient City.

Want something to do on Saturday morning? Come and visit Holgate Windmill.
Holgate Windmill is the oldest 5-sailed windmill in the country and is the last remaining windmill in York. Holgate Windmill is now fully restored and produces traditional stone-ground flour. Experience how it is done with the opportunity to buy the stone-ground flour and more.

8. York City Walls
We have all seen the York City Walls but when was the last time you took a walk around them to see the historical city from a different perspective?
Everybody has seen the Medieval York City Walls around the city. They are 3.4 kilometers and are the longest medieval town walls in England. They are so long that it takes approximately two hours to walk around the entire City Walls.
If you have a few spare hours whilst in York have a trip around the York City Walls. Your journey will be incomplete without it.

9. The World of James Herriot
If you are a fan or James Alfred Wright’s book and watched All Creatures Great and Small you might want a trip to Thirsk this weekend.
Take a trip back in time and see James Herriot’s (The world’s most famous vet) home and surgery. Experience stepping on to a TV set, what it was like to hide in a World War 2 air raid shelter and attempt being a vet this weekend.
