Here at Minster FM we think North Yorkshire is the place to be this Christmas! With fantastic events, brilliant Christmas Markets and the chance to meet Santa why would you want to be anywhere else?

Check out these 5 reasons why North Yorkshire is the best place to be this festive season...

1. North Yorkshire is home to the UK's most festive city!

Earlier this year, York was named the UK's most festive City and it is clear to see why! There is so much to see and do that will get you in the festive mood.

For the festive season, York has over 160,000 Christmas Lights lighting up the streets - more than ever before! There is also a fantastic Christmas Market where you can find Yorkshire produce and unique Christmas Gifts. Plus, every Friday and Saturday night there will be snow in the Shambles! What could be more Christmassy than that?

It’s December and we’re feeling festive! If you’re still in York over the Christmas break, there’s loads to see and do in the city centre #yorkchristmas ✨🎄⭐️

2. We've got our very own Winter Wonderland!

Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland is back again at York Designer Outlet and is guaranteed to be a magical Christmas experience that the whole family will enjoy.

Home to the North of England's biggest outdoor ice rink 'The Ice Factor' you can skate on the ice with your friends and family around a 30ft high sparkling Christmas tree. But the magic doesn't stop there! There's also a fantastic funfair full of great rides, a chance to meet Santa in his Grotto and a apres-skate café full of great food and drink!

No matter where you are in North Yorkshire there is something festive going on! From Christmas Lights, to Market Stalls to Santas Grottos there is lots of festive fun to be had.

There are some great Christmas events for you and your family to enjoy across North Yorkshire. From an unforgettable Christmas experience at Castle Howard, Storytime with Santa at Flamingo Land and so much more you're guaranteed to have lots of fun this Christmas! If you want to find out what's going on don't forget to check out our festive guide of events happening across North Yorkshire.

4. We've got our own Christmas Radio Station!

To get in you the festive mood in North Yorkshire we've launched our Christmas Radio station 'Mince Pie Non-Stop' with the York BID available on DAB, via the Minster FM App and online. Mince Pie Non-Stop plays all non-stop Christmas songs all day, every day - there aren't even any adverts!

If that's not enough to get you in the festive mood we're also giving you the chance to win £1,000! Find our Mince Pie password and enter it online for the chance to win. Hint: the password is somewhere in York City Centre.

You can listen and find out more at minsterfm.com/mincepie

5. Loads of chances to meet Santa!

There are loads of chances to meet Santa across North Yorkshire! Santa will be at various Grottos spreading festive cheer and giving gifts to children this Christmas. From Grottos in York City Centre and York Designer Outlet and the opportunity to see Santa out and about in Tadcaster there is lots of chances to meet the big man himself!

However, spaces at some of these Grottos are running out so make sure you check availability to avoid disappointment.
