There are so many great family days out to be had across North Yorkshire. Check out our guide of places that you need to visit at least once this Summer!

BBC Countryfile Live at Castle Howard

The stunning grounds of Castle Howard are giving you the unique chance to meet all of your favourite Countryfile heroes, along with spectacular TV chefs at the Le Creuset and Countryfile kitchen theatre from the 15th to the 18th of June.

Animal-lovers will be able to get up-close-and-personal with a variety of creatures in the Wildlife zone so it’s perfect for kids!

Lightwater Valley’s Summer Saturday Sessions

It won’t just be the thrilling rides that families go to experience here this summer holidays, on Saturdays from the 27th of July to the 31st of August there will be some of our favourite tribute acts including Robbie Williams, the Spice Girls, Little Mix and Ed Sheeran, along with many more.

So, if you’re looking for some musical fun this summer, Lightwater Valley is the place to go!

Woodland Adventure Park- Camphill Estate

The perfect place for a family day out, from the 23rd of July to the 1st of September, Woodland Adventure Park welcomes you to a non-stop day of fun! The playhouses, giant tree house fort, low ropes course, assault course and more will allow your kids’ imaginations grow wild.

And for the thrill-seekers in your family, you can pre-book Segways, quad biking, foot golf or high ropes adventure online and get free admission to the adventure park!

York Bird of Prey Centre

If you and your family are interested in birds, this centre is the place to be, there being lots of chances to handle birds of prey and owls!

They now have an indoor flying area so if you are wanting to see a bird fly, you will not be disappointed when the Centre is open from Wednesday to Monday 10:30-17:00 (closed on Tuesdays) throughout the summer season.

The Beach at Piglets Adventure Farm

If you’re looking for a fun place to take your little ones on a hot summer’s day, this is the best place to be between the 20th of July to the 1st of September. Let them cool down and play in the 2 acres of sand and water fun while you relax in your beach hut. As well as this, you may choose to see the amazing magic shows or incredible circus acrobats! Whatever you choose, you’re guaranteed a good day!

Searching for a children’s party venue? Give your child a unique birthday experience with a bubbly foam party here!

Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre, York

If you’re interested in any of Shakespeare’s amazing and dramatic productions, book tickets now to the pop-up theatre in York for an accurate representation of what it would actually be like at the theatre in the Shakespearean era!

Will you sit at the top of the theatre or be a penny stinker in the standing area? Either way, you are guaranteed a spectacular production. It will stay in York until the 1st of September.

York Maze

Looking for somewhere to stay all day? York Maze is the ideal place, with its maze being the largest in Europe! There are many fun-filled activities for little ones to enjoy including the Cobstacle Course, Popcorn Pillow, climbing zone and lots more from the 13th of July to the 2nd of September.

You may want to bring a spare change of clothes due to there being many of opportunities to get wet!

Music Showcase Weekend at York Races

Taking the stage at York races will be an act that has already sold more than 30 million albums worldwide: Tears for Fears on the evening of Friday the 26th of July and, the night after, 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur with a string of hits including his 2 number ones!

So, if you’re interested in either of these acts, book now!

Pirates & Mermaids at Scarborough SEA LIFE Sanctuary life

From the 25th of May to the 4th of the September, your children can choose their team, Pirates or Mermaids, to find the six hidden treasures in the tanks. If they complete the task, they can claim their Pirate or Mermaid reward!

On selected days you can see actual mermaids swimming in the Ocean Tank with the giant green sea turtles! What’s not to love?
