Moment of Weakness
29th January 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben’s son Nick was off school ill yesterday until the doctors said he wasn’t contagious and could go back. To prove that he shouldn’t go back to school for the afternoon he tried to force some tears, but ended up weeing instead. At least he still got his way, he couldn’t go back to school without his uniform!
Laura had a moment of weakness the other evening and when Sam was just half an hour late home, she had convinced herself he had fallen in to a ditch and that’s why he wasn’t responding. When he did arrive home, because of Laura’s reaction he thought it was the right time to advise her on what to do if he did actually die – the advise was ‘move on’.

Millennials have come up with new names for numbers in Bingo! They include 15 – Yas Queen, 49 – Amazon Prime and 38 – Avocado on a Plate!
Ben was outraged yesterday when he took his car to be hand jet washed at a flat rate of £8 and the man said it would be £10 because the car was dirty! That’s why you take a car to get cleaned surely?! Ben only wanted his number plate doing so in the end negotiated to £2.
A Parrot has been spotted on top of Selby Abbey, it’s owners are trying to coax it down from the roof but it’s not having any of it! Laura told us that her auntie recently went to the zoo and was impressed with how the parrot was repeating everything she said in a female voice – until she walked to the other side of the cage and realised it was a woman doing the same thing on the other side. Oh well! They had a nice chat.

No Free Cash!
21st January 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben and Laura went into town yesterday afternoon to see what all the fuss was about with a company that had claimed they were giving away free cash on Stonegate! Well, after waiting with a large group of people for a while, it seemed that the company may had gone somewhere else with the cash – and just before they left a man turned up trying to get the audiences email addresses for the free cash. Ben was not having this, he was scared it was a scam so decided to heckle the man! We later found out he was legit.. it’s not panto anymore Ben!
A new survey has claimed that 4 in 10 adults are still scared of the dark – Ben admitted he isn’t scared of the dark, but he is scared of what Jess has left on the stairs in the dark as they become obstacles for him on a dark morning! Laura admitted that Sam often turns all of the lights off in the house and waits in the dark to jump out at her – she is not scared of the dark, just her fiancé’s stupidity.
And the Wagon Wheel has been voted Britain’s favourite retro tea time snack (what a niche award category). Ben and Laura are not a fan of eating them – but love trying to catch one at the York Theatre Royal panto! Do you like a Wagon Wheel?

Mamma's Movies

Laura’s mum has been to the cinema to see the new Sam Mendes film 1917. Whilst most describe it as poignant and moving, Mamma’s Movie Reviews (this we are trademarking…) mustered up 2 words ‘shooty’ and ‘war-ey’. Are they even words? She also answered the phone top Laura in the cinema then proceeded to tell her off for calling – why did she answer?!
York City FC’s Daniel Parslow continues his benefit year raising money for Headway with his Grand Football Quiz this evening. The event is being held at Acomb Conservative Club and tickets are £5 to enter!

Laura’s brother had a nightmare over Christmas as he couldn’t enter his local pet shop where he used to work – when questioned why he explained he was hungry on shift once and was caught eating dog treats from the pick n mix! Shame!
It’s been revealed that on average, people have around 60 baths of tea at work in a lifetime! What?! Outrage.. Laura says she could do that in a week, just give her a straw!
Apparently the Yorkshire accent is the most trusted in the country! Ben says this must be why people tend to like Laura more than him. Laura thinks its down to the fact she’s funnier, doesn’t ring a bell, is more approachable, makes a better cuppa… the list goes on.

Allo Allo, Ben's Back!
6th January 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben Fry is back after his stint in the Grand Opera House Panto! Contrary to popular opinion, we have missed him, but more so couldn’t wait to hear about all the celeb gossip he got from the panto superstars! So far he’s told us that Mark Little confirmed Bouncer is dead and Vikki Michelle answers the phone to everyone with ‘Allo Allo!’.
Laura’s debate continues as to whether she should take Sam’s Surname or her own for her Wedding. Ben had seen a news story about a couple flipping a coin at the alter to decide who’s surname they take! Sounds like a great idea, until Laura and Ben did it in the studio and it landed on Sam’s Surname… back to square one.
Ben has realized just how much money is spent on buying presents for other children all year round due to kids birthday parties! Maybe we should all just re-gift or not buy presents and save ourselves £300 a year!

BFF Bracelets
3rd January 2020
Things we talked about today…
A product has been released which may help you with your long term relationship or friendships. ‘BFF bracelets’ allow one person to send a buzz to someone else wearing the paired bracelet to show the you are thinking about them. Laura and Michael feel this is a floored system, surely you would just send loads of vibrations to your friend wrist to annoy them? Why not just send a text?
Apparently January is the month where we lie the most! Mainly about sticking to our new years resolutions, how much we drank over the festive season and making up excuses to not go to social events because of the cold weather! We don’t blame them, it’s chilly out there!
It’s Tax Return month and the HMRC have published a list of their craziest excuses that they’ve had for people not completing them in time, the list includes: ‘I was up a mountain’, ‘I had a row with my wife and moved to Italy for 5 years’ and the best one, ‘I was busy looking after a flock of escaped Parrots!’. It’s safe to say none of these will work for you…

The formula for a ‘perfect bath’ has been revealed today, approx. 30 mins at 40 degrees with a drink in hand and a scroll on your phone or tablet is apparently the perfect one. Laura says this is missing a bath bomb or bubbles, however Michael can’t even stand a bath! He thinks you’re just soaking in your own dirt…
Today is the day most people will return their unwanted Christmas gifts, Laura says she doesn’t return them and instead has a ‘box of plenty’ where she puts things to re-gift. Michael daren’t ask for the receipt so just keeps the gifts!
