Things we talked about today…
DG was in for Ben today and has had a fantastic idea for those that work long days… A nap hotel! Like an air bnb but for napping, you can only hire it out for an afternoon. We say get on Dragons Den!
Those of you that have been watching I’m a Celeb will know that Caitlyn Jenner is the Queen of motivational speeches! And everyone loves them, yesterday Laura heard a voice from above saying ‘It’s not just another day, it’s another day to excel!’ and it turned out to be a group of builders on some scaffolding giving themselves a pep talk!

Bushtucker Tree!

Things we talked about today…
After laughing at Laura thinking she was stuck in the Toy Appeal Van for 60 seconds in the dark, Ben has had his comeuppance and also got stuck in a van before his mum came to rescue him… aww.
It's come to that time of the year, getting the Christmas Tree out or down! Laura had to get hers out of the shed and was worried about spiders so treat it like a bush-tucker trial, donning the rubber gloves and goggles she made it! But… the tree has gone rusty.

Cardboard Ben

Things we talked about today…
Ben hasn’t been well the past few days which has meant Laura had to do some filming on her own yesterday, but she couldn’t quite manage it without him. So she decided to create a human-size cardboard cut-out of him and take it with her! She did she she proffered Cardboard Ben as he doesn’t answer back and he wears a Christmas hat.
Ben and Laura spoke to Beverley from Ambulance Wish foundation this morning to find out more about the charity. The Foundation aims to give wishes to people who aren’t quite able to do it on their own. The team have specialist transport and staff, and organise trips and wishes free of charge. Ben took Nick to meet Santa at Castle Howard at the weekend! When asked what present he wanted he couldn’t remember, but he did remember to ask Santa if he would like to be Baby Kara’s Godfather. This christening is going to be a great party!

York Festival Headliners Announced!

Things we talked about today…
The news is finally here. There has been much anticipation over who will be headlining the new York Music Festival and Ben and Laura finally announced the acts this morning: MADNESS. WESTLIFE. LIONEL RICHIE! Some world-class acts here and also many well-known supporting artists too such as Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Scouting for Girls and The Lightning Seeds. Laura took the Minster FM team to Mansion in York last night to meet her favourite hairy drag queen Crystal. Crystal told us all about her experience on season 1 of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK and why they use Drag to express different ideas of gender. Ben is fuming this morning as when we was doing the cleaning he came across a drawing on his Mahogany furniture! Nick had written his name in biro… uh oh! What destructive things have your children done? Let us know on our Facebook Page!

No Turkey News!

Things we talked about today…
It has been revealed that 1 in 3 families will not have Turkey with their Christmas dinner! Laura is absolutely flabbergasted as she thinks nothing can beat Turkey and Gravy. However Ben has already ordered the Steak for Christmas Dinner… Steak?!
Decks Day is back! Every year Ben tries to argue that we should be putting our Christmas decorations up on the last weekend in November. However, being a bit busy this year it is now going to be Friday 22nd at the Fry household! Tune in to our Facebook Live to see th3e decorations…
Ben and Laura picked up the Toy Appeal Van yesterday and it is massive! So big that Laura could do Zumba in the back! It does mean it’s going to take a lot of kind donations to fill, if you can help just donate a new and unwrapped gift to one of our collection points!

Things we talked about today…
Secret Santa Debate! Apparently ‘snowflake millennials’ are worrying about secret Santa in the workplace as they don’t want to look stingy. This prompted Ben to make the bold statement that he hate secret Santa as you just get tat! Laura begs to differ and loves the fluffy socks she gets each year.
Ben and Laura found some great stocking fillers today, underwear you can get your face printed on! Laura’s mum has stolen the idea and has decided to buy herself some socks with the dog on.
Today is Play Monopoly Day and it has been revealed that over half of UK adults have cheated at the game. Laura says she hates monopoly as she has a Lord of The Rings version and no one ever lets her be Gandalf. Then they all work in cahoots against her!

It’s officially the Christmas Season!! Yes that’s right, Ben and Laura will be turning on the York Christmas Lights this evening on the Minster FM stage outside the Minster. They will be joined by special guests including England International Footballer, York-born Lucy Staniforth! And Mince Pie Non – Stop our Christmas station launches today.
The John Lewis & Waitrose Christmas ad has launched today, showing an excitable Dragon Edgar who always gets too excited and sets things on fire! However, with a very special friend and a very special gift there is a happy ending. So many happy tears!
A list of the ‘weirdest things tourists ask in York’ has been released by York’s Travellodge. With one of them being ‘do real Vikings still live in York?’

Earlier in the week Ben and Laura were talking about an article that had claimed the part your children play in the Nativity, can define the type of job they end up with! Laura’s friend Lizzie was cast as ‘air’ during her Nativity. Yes, air.

Ben and Laura had a strange visitor this morning… a gentleman turned up at the door with a mysterious gift with a clue attached. The clue read ‘these were my tools 300 years ago. Who am I?’. When opened, the gift was some sort of prong – with the listeners help we quickly found out it’s a tool used to take snails out of their shells. It was one of the seven listeners – SNAILHUNTER!
It is Ben’s 5 year anniversary on the Breakfast show today! Happy Anniversary Ben!

Country Life Magazine have published a definitive list of how to be a ‘Modern Gentleman’. The list includes being able to dance the foxtrot, having delivered a lamb and demolished something with a JCB… anyone a modern gentlemen? No? Just the farmers then.
Kevin the Carrot has returned to our screens! The infamous Aldi Christmas Advert character is back with a heart-warming advert based on The Greatest Showman and Peaky Blinders. We missed you Kevin!
The Up-Cycle products have now been placed back in the shop, but everyone’s annoyed as Laura’s takes front place in the window, and everyone else’s is in the shop! Colours of the Rainbow Choir!

Things we talked about today…
Today Ben and Laura had a choir in for the House Band! Colours of the Rainbow is an LGBTQ+ Choir in York, they have banded together with duo Bright Lights and created this wonderful charity single raising money for the LGBTQ+ Forum in York. The single is called Through The Storm and is fantastic. You can Listen Again on the Minster FM App, or even download the track when it gets released Friday 8th November!
Strictly St Leonards is looking for couples to get their dancing shoes on! Laura and Sam are already signed up, and even got some top tips from head judge and dance teacher – Chris Robinson. He was impressed with Laura’s freestyling but we still think you could all beat her.
