No Trick Pony
17th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben has installed baby gates in his house and his son Nick can’t work out how to open them so is often trapped, Ben likes to play the game and say they are password protected, until Nick absolutely had enough and schooled him with the phrase ‘That’s enough now Dad, you’re a no trick pony’. Savage, we love it.
There was a shark spotted in the Thames! Ben says that’s the newest tourist attraction now people are flocking to see if they can spot it – I wonder if we photoshopped a shark into the Ouse it would have the same effect?
Ben and Laura have found something they LOVE about wearing masks, especially when its sunny! A mask + sunglasses means no one can see your face, that means you don’t have to conceal your eye rolls or fake smiles anymore!

What's a Bitcoin?
16th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
There was a massive Twitter Hack last night where many top celebs were hacked and tweeted out a trade for Bitcoin. Ben has tried to explain what bitcoin is to Laura and how you get it, but she’s still very confused! If it doesn’t actually exist physically, how do you get it? How do you know if you have it? How do you use it?
Laura has forgotten how to whistle everyone! She used to be a very strong whistler, but all of a sudden she seems to have lost the ability. It just sounds like a tumbleweed when she tries now…
Ben and Jess were discussing when the appropriate time is to get their son Nick a mobile phone, but they have been put off now by their baby Kara! She was playing with Jess’ phone recently and it turns out she had tapped on so many buttons she had ended up buying a Car MOT on Groupon!

Countryside Smell
13th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben took his family to Carlton Towers this weekend for their outdoor market, he loved the smell of the countryside, until he realised it was his baby Kara that was making that ‘countryside smell’. Jess insisted it can’t be her as she had only just changed her nappy! Unfortunately I don’t think babies pick and choose when they do the business…
Laura’s brother Shaun has become a plant lover through lockdown and now has turned his bedroom into a rainforest.. complete with uninvited fruit flies! Have you gained a new hobby or love in lockdown?
And Ben waited the whole show to announce that today is in fact, Town Crier Day! Who knew.. they have their own day. It also turns out that any negativity towards a Town Crier is an act of Treason. Looks like Laura is off to the stocks then!

Baby Hulk
10th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Laura had an awkward moment this morning. Sam’s Dad had stayed over at their house and as she was leaving for work at 5:30am trying not to wake anyone up, she realized his van was blocking her in the drive! She considered many options, find his keys and take the van? No he will think it has been stolen. Get a taxi? No time. She had to wake up him, but he is a very deep sleeper so she ended up shaking his legs until he shot up! This might be a story for the wedding speech…
Ben’s baby Kara is teething and has kept him up all night! His wife says he needs to learn to let her cry it out and not get up, so he sat through it all night – until she sounded so angry he thought she was going to turn into the Hulk!

Saving Theatres and Eating Food!
9th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced that there will be no Stamp Duty for the time being to help with finances and home moves during the pandemic. With Ben’s wife being a solicitor you can imagine how many calls she got! Lots asking if she’d heard the national news, and many asking if Rishi had personally given her any information!
Laura and Ben were joined by Erin this morning who was discussing her campaign to save theatres. The campaign ‘Students Saving Our Theatres’ involves 22 universities across the UK doing challenges to raise money for theatres that may not get a chunk of the funding announced this week. Their target is £10k and they are over half way there! Find them on social media for information on how to donate and get involved.

8th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Laura has become obsessed with the new Netflix challenge show ‘The Floor is Lava’ which is basically an extreme obstacle course based off of everyone’s favourite childhood game! Laura really wants to become a contestant on it so she has started training in the studio by leaping from chair to chair and swinging on the doorways…
Dr Mike was back on the show today answering your coronavirus questions. Mark asked about the importance of masks today, of course the continued advice is that you should try and wear a mask in public spaces and shops where possible, Dr Mike says this is to protect others from your germs more than anything else and it’s an easy habit to pick up and start wearing your mask.
Ben is very excited as his son Nick has been attending online zoom groups for Beavers and next week is the moment he gets invested meaning he gets to wear all the kit and becomes a proper, fully-fledged Beaver. As this is at home still, Ben gets to do the deed and present him with his neckerchief and woggle – very exciting!

New Trim
7th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben’s finally had his haircut by a professional! He loves it, but unfortunately it was followed by disappointment – The hairdresser asked for Ben’s number and he was feeling smug thinking she was hitting on him after seeing his fresh new trim… turns out she just needed it for track and trace just in case, and Laura didn’t even notice he’d had his hair done!
Laura and Sam have been arguing over where the PlayStation goes in the new house. It has now been decided that the PlayStation will go downstairs and Laura will have a little living room and TV upstairs. Laura thinks she is winning because she gets the mini fridge! But Ben thinks Sam is an evil genius as he has managed to swindle the best room in the house and the corner sofa…
Laura and Ben were out in Stillingfleet yesterday with listener Amy Sinclair as she started her challenge to bounce 10 miles in one week on a Space Hopper! Things we talked about today…
Pubs, Hairdressers and many other businesses re-opened this weekend and the Town Crier was out doing his thing to support them! Ben’s wife Jess also bagged the first appointment at 8am Saturday morning for the hairdressers. Ben revealed she had gone for a complete new look and dyed her hair what he described ‘Rusty and like she had been tangoed’. Laura thinks it looks lovely and Ben needs to work on his complimenting!
Laura’s partner Sam chose not to go to the pub and instead make milkshake cocktails at home, he used to be a very good cocktail maker… must’ve lost his touch though as he drop the glass when he tried to throw it in a fancy way and smashed It everywhere!

Ben wanted to gift his friend a moving house present, but he couldn’t find anywhere open on his way to their new garden – so he bought a USB charger from the Garage. It was that or dashboard wipes… Laura’s fuming, she didn’t get any wipes when she moved last week!
