North Yorkshire's HOFF

Blogs > Ben and Laura's Breakfast Blog > North Yorkshire's HOFF

22nd April 2020

Things we talked about today…

Are you doing the 2.6 challenge? Holly from York Mind was on the show this morning speaking to Ben and Laura about how everyone can get involved in the challenge this coming Sunday. The challenge is to create your own fundraiser challenge around the numbers 2 and 6, or 2.6. Edgar the Elephant, the York Mind mascot will be completing an exercise for each letter of the alphabet at 2:06pm on Sunday – make sure you check out their Facebook page and donate! You could even try a challenge yourself…

Ben has deemed himself ‘North Yorkshire’s HOFF’ today… yes not everyone agrees with this title. Ben’s little boy was feeding the fish and he fell in to the pond! It’s worth mentioning at this point that the pond is only a foot deep and reached Nick’s ankles… Ben instantly ran through the sprinklers and grabbed him with one hand out of the pond in something he is describing as ‘A slow-motion Baywatch moment, heroic and fast-acting’.. yes only he is describing himself as a hero of course.

The York Balloon Fiesta need your help! The last weekend in September, we will hopefully be able to get back outside and out to the Balloon Fiesta. Each year they have a fabulous Firework display with a theme, this year it is on the Sunday and the theme is ‘Thank You NHS and Key Workers’. If you have any songs you think would make a great soundtrack for this theme, get in touch with them on their Facebook Page. Just search ‘York Balloon Fiesta’.

And don’t forget to tune in to the Ten Minute Tea Break on Facebook Live at 11 today! Ben and Laura will be doing The Opposite Short Jump (jumping back out of the shorts Laura struggled so much to jump into)!

We are continuing to bring you the latest updates regarding Covid-19 throughout the show, a reminder that we are here for you! Any plugs you need or info to get across, please go to our website and fill out our message board – or just give us a call!

Chances to win on air with Ben and Laura…

This week you will be winning a coveted spot in our Royal Minster FM Family!

SCREEN STARS (6:20)

Can you work out the movie or TV show from the One Line used to describe it?

This morning it was Singin’ in the Rain and the winner was Stuart!

GAME WHEEL (7.30)

PRIZE! This week there is a prize of a fabulous York Pass. Today’s Game was Ben’s Big Jumble and the answer was Cosmopolitan. Well done to today’s winner Pat!

PANIC (8:15)

You can win £1000 until it’s won if you can hold your nerve!

Katie didn’t manage to complete the categories with the letter R so didn’t win the £1000! She got a respectable 3 out of 5!
