Saving Theatres and Eating Food!
9th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced that there will be no Stamp Duty for the time being to help with finances and home moves during the pandemic. With Ben’s wife being a solicitor you can imagine how many calls she got! Lots asking if she’d heard the national news, and many asking if Rishi had personally given her any information!
Laura and Ben were joined by Erin this morning who was discussing her campaign to save theatres. The campaign ‘Students Saving Our Theatres’ involves 22 universities across the UK doing challenges to raise money for theatres that may not get a chunk of the funding announced this week. Their target is £10k and they are over half way there! Find them on social media for information on how to donate and get involved.
And the Malton Monthly Food Market is back this Saturday! Tom was on the show this morning telling us all about the new safety guidelines they have put in place to be able to re-open the market and give people confidence to visit Malton and enjoy a fantastic day out with wonderful food! If you want to go and check it out, it will be on in Malton from 9am-3pm.

The Floor is Lava!
8th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Laura has become obsessed with the new Netflix challenge show ‘The Floor is Lava’ which is basically an extreme obstacle course based off of everyone’s favourite childhood game! Laura really wants to become a contestant on it so she has started training in the studio by leaping from chair to chair and swinging on the doorways…
Dr Mike was back on the show today answering your coronavirus questions. Mark asked about the importance of masks today, of course the continued advice is that you should try and wear a mask in public spaces and shops where possible, Dr Mike says this is to protect others from your germs more than anything else and it’s an easy habit to pick up and start wearing your mask.
Ben is very excited as his son Nick has been attending online zoom groups for Beavers and next week is the moment he gets invested meaning he gets to wear all the kit and becomes a proper, fully-fledged Beaver. As this is at home still, Ben gets to do the deed and present him with his neckerchief and woggle – very exciting!

New Trim
7th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben’s finally had his haircut by a professional! He loves it, but unfortunately it was followed by disappointment – The hairdresser asked for Ben’s number and he was feeling smug thinking she was hitting on him after seeing his fresh new trim… turns out she just needed it for track and trace just in case, and Laura didn’t even notice he’d had his hair done!
Laura and Sam have been arguing over where the PlayStation goes in the new house. It has now been decided that the PlayStation will go downstairs and Laura will have a little living room and TV upstairs. Laura thinks she is winning because she gets the mini fridge! But Ben thinks Sam is an evil genius as he has managed to swindle the best room in the house and the corner sofa…
Laura and Ben were out in Stillingfleet yesterday with listener Amy Sinclair as she started her challenge to bounce 10 miles in one week on a Space Hopper! This is all to raise funds for IDAS and Laura attempted half a mile with her… It was a disaster, she fell off multiple times and now her body is hurting BUT it was great fun and for a great cause. You can see the action replay at our Facebook Page and donate there too!

Rusty Hair
6th July 2020
Things we talked about today…
Pubs, Hairdressers and many other businesses re-opened this weekend and the Town Crier was out doing his thing to support them! Ben’s wife Jess also bagged the first appointment at 8am Saturday morning for the hairdressers. Ben revealed she had gone for a complete new look and dyed her hair what he described ‘Rusty and like she had been tangoed’. Laura thinks it looks lovely and Ben needs to work on his complimenting!
Laura’s partner Sam chose not to go to the pub and instead make milkshake cocktails at home, he used to be a very good cocktail maker… must’ve lost his touch though as he drop the glass when he tried to throw it in a fancy way and smashed It everywhere!
Laura and Ben will be out today with listener Amy Sinclair as she starts her challenge to bounce 30 miles in one week on a Space Hopper! This is all to raise funds for IDAS and Laura will be bouncing some of the way with her today. Keep an eye out on our Facebook Page for what will surely be a funny video and a chance to donate!

Things we talked about today…
Laura’s brother had an incident at the weekend, he tried to save a frog but it got nervous and peed all over him, and it was really firing it out. I didn’t even know frog’s peed like that!
Ben wanted to gift his friend a moving house present, but he couldn’t find anywhere open on his way to their new garden – so he bought a USB charger from the Garage. It was that or dashboard wipes… Laura’s fuming, she didn’t get any wipes when she moved last week!
Dawn from St Leonard’s Hospice joined Ben and Laura on the Breakfast Show this morning to talk Rainbow Ribbons! If you would like to buy a coloured ribbon to be flying in the wind in Selby, York or Easingwold you can get these from the St Leonard’s website. The donation goes straight to the hospice and the point is to buy a ribbon in memory of someone.
