Caring Car
18th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben spotted a car parked in town that had been graffitied! But it’s not what you think, the owner had spray painted this themselves with thank yous and kind words for all the carers and NHS! We were on the hunt to find out who this was so that they could be celebrated too, and the listeners found the person. Her name is Val from Malton! Well done Val, you hero.
Laura has been packing up her house this week ready to move, and she has realised her partner Sam is a hoarder. He wanted to keep random pieces of packaging from football shirts – yes that’s right PACKAGING. Yet when he was asked if he wanted to keep some of the sentimental engagement cards the pair had received, he said ‘chuck em’! How rude!
Joseph Rowntree Theatre in York need your help! They have started the restoration project for their roof and you can donate to the project aptly named ‘The Raise the Roof Appeal’. As part of the fundraising the volunteers from the theatre have banded together to create a charity song! The song is a cover of ‘Up on the Roof’. You can find more details on how to donate at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre website.

Skittles are all the same flavour.
17th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
There has been a revelation! SKITTLES ARE ALL THE SAME FLAVOUR! Yep that’s right – the popular confectionery uses scents and colour to make your mind think you are eating different flavours, when actually they are the SAME. Mind. Blown.
Ben was lucky enough to be asked to help with a proposal as the town crier this week! Chris wanted to propose to his partner Georgie in the minster gardens, and managed to get Ben to do a proclamation as part of the proposal! Although he felt a little like he was intruding and being a third wheel anticipating her answer, she said yes! Congrats guys!
Dr Mike joined Ben and Laura on the show again today, discussing free school meals, staying healthy and the importance of making sure we don’t forget about other ailments. It is also Cervical Screening Awareness Week so make sure you are all keeping up to date with routine tests too! You can listen again to Dr Mike’s wisdom from 8:35am.

PREGNANT?!
16th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben and Laura went back in to town for the first time yesterday as some of the shops re-opened. Ben was dressed as the Town Crier and making a racket with the bell to support the local businesses! It was a lovely day, until someone recognised the pair and got chatting to them – he then pointed at Laura’s stomach and said ‘When did that happen?’ Laura gave a confused look. He replied with ‘You’re pregnant?’ WELL! Safe to say Ben was glad social distancing was in place as Laura nearly chased him down the street angrily! Who asks that?!
This morning Ben and Laura had an awards show to do! The RSPCA York and Harrogate branch have been running a brilliant online pet show and of course, Laura’s love for animals meant she muscled her way in to announce the winners on air this morning! The full list of winners and the video with all the cute pictures is on our Facebook Page and the RSPCA York website now, check it out!

15th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben’s son Nick has finally caved and has been helping out with the chores at home by mopping! However, it turned out he was actually mopping the floor with his baby sister – it’s okay though, Ben put a teatowel underneath her so she didn’t ruin her dress!
A Big day for York City Football Club today as fans take to social media with the hashtag #Promote2 in a bid to get themselves promoted! Make sure you are tweeting with this hashtag to help the cause!
Laura thought she was going to be a social media influencer after being asked to collab with a clothing company. However the outfit that she was sent was supposed to be a Medium, well this may as well of been a Medium for a Bratz doll! It was TINY!! Then when she tried to complain, it turns out their email address doesn’t even exist! SCAM!

12th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
It’s House Band Friday! This morning Ben and Laura were joined via phone by York band Tommyrot. They played their newest single ‘The Happy Ending Song’ for us, and it is funky! You can check out the interview on Listen Again from 8:10am this morning!
Laura’s mum has caused more controversy in the Castle household by purchasing a treadmill. You might think this is not a big deal, but Nicky has a reputation. This is now her fourth treadmill in 5 years because she always impulse buys them and then sells them a week later when she’s bored. She actually once sold one after a week, then wanted it back so tried to buy it from the person she sold it too! Stop messing the treadmills around Mamma C!
Don’t forget to join Ben and Laura on Facebook Live at 11am for the final Ten Minute Tea Break! Today they will be having a go at the latest Selby High Challenge: Toilet Roll Squat!
