Best Joke
30th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
There is on ongoing argument on the breakfast show about Ben’s Car. He has a scratch on the back which he is convinced Laura did with her car, he has now taken his car to the garage and tried to pysch Laura into confessing to the crime by saying they were performing a ‘paint chip analysis’ to find out if it was her. She saw right through this though and knew that wasn’t a thing! She didn’t do it!
Ben’s son Nick has been asked to prepare a joke for his Beavers zoom call this afternoon, but as we all know, Ben is not funny. So we need your jokes! Some great ones have come in already, but if you have a favourite, comment on our Facebook Post with your funnies!

DOG!
29th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
Since Ben and Laura have been off for the week they haven’t had chance to talk about Father’s Day! Ben was ranting because he got a blank father’s day card with a Camel on the front which we now believe to be a Llama not a Camel. Whereas Laura got an actual song written for her Dad! Her friend Cameron has started writing and performing personalised songs for big days called 'Cam-egrams' – you can get your own at a pay what you feel price, just email cameroncabotmusic@outlook.com.
Big announcement for Laura today, after years of hoping, wishing and waiting, she is finally getting a Dog!!!! He is a Goldendoodle and will be coming home with her in 7 weeks time, Ben has asked if he can be the Godfather, we don’t think he understands that you actually have to like dogs to be one of those!

Things we talked about today…
It’s Father’s Day this weekend! Ben has been ranting all morning as Jess said if he wants a card he’ll have to make it with the kids and the new trackies he bought himself have now been stolen and wrapped up for his present! You can listen again, or go to their Facebook page for some free dad coupons!
Laura’s brother Shaun was annoyed at her and the rest of the family because they didn’t know his favourite colour. He said ‘everybody knows!’ clearly not. After a lot of guessing, he finally gave in and told us it was ‘Sexy Purple’ WHAT is that even a colour?!

Caring Car
18th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben spotted a car parked in town that had been graffitied! But it’s not what you think, the owner had spray painted this themselves with thank yous and kind words for all the carers and NHS! We were on the hunt to find out who this was so that they could be celebrated too, and the listeners found the person. Her name is Val from Malton! Well done Val, you hero.
Laura has been packing up her house this week ready to move, and she has realised her partner Sam is a hoarder. He wanted to keep random pieces of packaging from football shirts – yes that’s right PACKAGING. Yet when he was asked if he wanted to keep some of the sentimental engagement cards the pair had received, he said ‘chuck em’! How rude!

Skittles are all the same flavour.
17th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
There has been a revelation! SKITTLES ARE ALL THE SAME FLAVOUR! Yep that’s right – the popular confectionery uses scents and colour to make your mind think you are eating different flavours, when actually they are the SAME. Mind. Blown.
Ben was lucky enough to be asked to help with a proposal as the town crier this week! Chris wanted to propose to his partner Georgie in the minster gardens, and managed to get Ben to do a proclamation as part of the proposal! Although he felt a little like he was intruding and being a third wheel anticipating her answer, she said yes! Congrats guys!

PREGNANT?!
16th June 2020
Things we talked about today…
Ben and Laura went back in to town for the first time yesterday as some of the shops re-opened. Ben was dressed as the Town Crier and making a racket with the bell to support the local businesses! It was a lovely day, until someone recognised the pair and got chatting to them – he then pointed at Laura’s stomach and said ‘When did that happen?’ Laura gave a confused look. He replied with ‘You’re pregnant?’ WELL! Safe to say Ben was glad social distancing was in place as Laura nearly chased him down the street angrily! Who asks that?!
This morning Ben and Laura had an awards show to do! The RSPCA York and Harrogate branch have been running a brilliant online pet show and of course, Laura’s love for animals meant she muscled her way in to announce the winners on air this morning! Laura thought she was going to be a social media influencer after being asked to collab with a clothing company. However the outfit that she was sent was supposed to be a Medium, well this may as well of been a Medium for a Bratz doll! It was TINY!! Then when she tried to complain, it turns out their email address doesn’t even exist! SCAM!

Laura’s mum has caused more controversy in the Castle household by purchasing a treadmill. You might think this is not a big deal, but Nicky has a reputation. This is now her fourth treadmill in 5 years because she always impulse buys them and then sells them a week later when she’s bored. She actually once sold one after a week, then wanted it back so tried to buy it from the person she sold it too! Stop messing the treadmills around Mamma C!

Ben said his family are going to struggle to just pick one grandparent so he’s proposing a Hunger Games style challenge in the back garden to see who wins, either that or he will just ask Nick to run to his favourite! Savage!
It’s the Minster FM Prom tonight! For those of you that are missing your prom this year, get dressed up, stick the radio on and request some prom tunes and get celebrating! Laura told us this morning that her prom was sabotaged by herself! She got nervous when her crush told her she looked nice and replied with ‘thanks my pits are so sweaty’ WHY. She then received a secret santa that year of picture of her crush in a snow globe. So all in all, it’s creepy and she never got anywhere. Prom was good fun though!

Ben’s son Nick has come up with another idea on how to tackle Coronavirus. He has been making potions all weekend with different drinks, his idea was to make it super fizzy to combat covid! Bat Gangs
2nd June 2020
Things we talked about today…
Laura’s mum is now convinced that Bats have gangs. This time of year is when the bats come out and fly outside the window of Laura’s family home – her mum unfortunately found 2 of the resident bats dead in the garden. Obviously very upset she looked out of the window that night expecting no bats, but to her surprise two more came! You would think this cheered her up, but she is convinced these bats booted the others out like a rival bat gang and have now taken over the territory. She just shuts the curtains now.
It’s Volunteers Week and this morning Ben and Laura spoke to Dawn from St Leonard’s Hospice this morning about their fabulous Volunteers! Remember if you want to nominate a volunteer to be our Daily Hero, you can fill out the nomination form on our website.
