It was Ben’s wife Jess’s birthday over the weekend and Ben had been worrying all week that he didn’t know what to do! In the end her present didn’t get delivered so he bought her a tree and had a picnic in the garden. North Yorkshire's HOFF
22nd April 2020
Things we talked about today…
Are you doing the 2.6 challenge? Holly from York Mind was on the show this morning speaking to Ben and Laura about how everyone can get involved in the challenge this coming Sunday. The challenge is to create your own fundraiser challenge around the numbers 2 and 6, or 2.6. Edgar the Elephant, the York Mind mascot will be completing an exercise for each letter of the alphabet at 2:06pm on Sunday – make sure you check out their Facebook page and donate! You could even try a challenge yourself…
Ben has deemed himself ‘North Yorkshire’s HOFF’ today… yes not everyone agrees with this title. Ben’s little boy was feeding the fish and he fell in to the pond! It’s worth mentioning at this point that the pond is only a foot deep and reached Nick’s ankles… Ben instantly ran through the sprinklers and grabbed him with one hand out of the pond in something he is describing as ‘A slow-motion Baywatch moment, heroic and fast-acting’.. yes only he is describing himself as a hero of course.
The York Balloon Fiesta need your help! The last weekend in September, we will hopefully be able to get back outside and out to the Balloon Fiesta. Each year they have a fabulous Firework display with a theme, this year it is on the Sunday and the theme is ‘Thank You NHS and Key Workers’. If you have any songs you think would make a great soundtrack for this theme, get in touch with them on their Facebook Page. Just search ‘York Balloon Fiesta’.

Doncaster Council have won the internet today by posting a fantastic thread on Twitter. They tell the story of rotting sperm whale in the 1970’s – sounds weird but the story has 3 key messages we need to hear at this time. 1. Don’t ignore expert advice. 2. Sometimes it’s better to sit at home and do nothing that go outside and do something ridiculous. 3. When you ignore advice, you cover everyone else with decaying Whale Blubber… check out @MyDoncaster on Twitter for the full story – it might make more sense!
We are continuing to bring you the latest updates regarding Covid-19 throughout the show, a reminder that we are here for you! Any plugs you need or info to get across, please go to our website and fill out our message board – or just give us a call!

This morning we have been asking, how is the Home-schooling going? Ben admitted he was struggling to keep his patience after his son Nick thought that the word ‘our’ was pronounced time. However, it was quickly pointed out that he could of thought it was hour, and therefore connected it to time – the boys a genius!
We’ve also realised that personal grooming is going to be a problem, no haircuts and lots of beards – including Laura’s! She’s let herself go and let her mole hair grow too, it is now so long it has turned grey and spouted friends. Someone get her some wax!
