Hounds with Hannah is here to help owners with all aspects of training and behaviour related problems in dogs, no matter the size, breed or age of the dog through private consultations and group training classes.

Why Should They Win?

Winning this award would mean the world to me as I constantly work hard to improve dogs quality of life through training and owner understanding. My aim is that through training and owner knowledge numbers of dogs in rescue centres will reduce.

Why Should They Win?

From the moment my children were born, I realised how quickly time lapses, and working with the poorliest children in my career as an ODP, meant that I regarded those fleeting moments even more.

I appreciate the raw emotions of everyday life through all aspects of photography. I try to capture the true spirit and personalities of each person I photograph, whilst creating a relaxed, yet fun and engaging environment for my clients. I take note of the smallest of details and listen to everything my clients ask; this way I can then create beautiful, bespoke images and the fleeting beauty of those in between moments. 

My images are the epitome of joy and human spirit. This helps me to be the best photographer I can be, providing all my clients with a complete, professional service.

We are an independent recruitment company that specialise in Industrial Temp positions as well as Commercial, Sales and Marketing and Law recruitment.

Founded in York in March 2016 we are currently in our 4th year. Our main focus is to bring things back to basics. Talk frankly and honestly and support each other.

Our aim is to change the perception of recruitment.

Why Should They Win?

As well as helping to get people back into work, our temps business donates 10p per temp, per hour to Martin House Hospice. Which equates to around £10,000 per year. 

They do fantastic work  to help children and young people with a life-limiting condition, along with their families, to live well and fully, offering the best possible end of life care and support to the family in bereavement.

On top of this we are also offering a free service to help under privileged individuals get back into work, this will include a workshop on CV writing and relevant skills. We would also look to place suitable candidates into York businesses for free as part of the project.

Here at Prept York we have created a beauty boutique that is a go-to place for all our clients cosmetic and beauty preparation, and this is where our name came from. Be that a night out, a holiday, a wedding or just for day to day life. Our list of services include:

Prept York is located in one of the oldest buildings in York, on Goodramgate, and we love the history and quirky feel of the property.

Why Should They Win?

Jemima and Suzanne (business partners at Prept York) met whilst renting chairs in a salon in 2017. Both had very different backgrounds in beauty but had no business knowledge whatsoever. A passion for what they do and a vision for a salon that would have a new and fresh feel led to the concept of Prept.

The plan was to create a salon that would be fun, relaxed and inviting, somewhere that clients could come and receive the highest quality treatments but feel that they were amongst friends. Both Jemima and Suzanne were single mums at the time of opening and as such this was a big risk, but hard work and a clear vision led to a salon that is now, only just going into its second year, a busy, thriving salon, that clients love and regularly return to!

York Gin

About Them

We make world-class gin right here in York.

York Gin's motto is 'History in the tasting'. We're inspired by gin's centuries of traditions and our beautiful city's amazing past. York with its incredible history and culture of hospitality should always have had its own gin - and a quality one at that. That's what a small group of friends believed when we created York Gin.

We launched our first bottles on 1st March last year. We hand-make, bottle, label, distribute and market our high quality, award-winning gins from our small distillery in Acaster Malbis. We also welcome visitors to drop in and see the city's only gin distillery in action.

On 6th April this year, we opened the York Gin shop in the iconic Tudor building,  Sir Thomas Herbert's House on Pavement. We sell all our gins, other Yorkshire gins and handmade gifts and accessories - many of which are manufactured here in York.

We have a dedicated team of amazing gin fiends who make the shop buzz with excitement, and we have grown from 2 to 20 in a year. Thank you, York!

Why Should They Win?

We're the only company making gin in York - and we're winning national and international awards. York Gin Outlaw won a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in March. We're putting York on the map as a gin city!

We've opened up one of York's favourite buildings - Sir Thomas Herbert's House on Pavement with a beautiful shop. As well as our gins, we're supporting other York businesses making things like bottle openers, fridge magnets, keyrings and cards.

Our fabulous shop team are so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, you can try all our gins for free - visitors tell us they love the York Gin experience.

Our delivery van is electric and runs on green energy - so do the shop and distillery. We're trying our best to be green.

The #yorkgindogs hashtag makes stars out of our doggy visitors. We also support York Cats Protection - customers give a donation for each used bottle to re-use as lamps and candle-holders, so this is green too!

We're always teaming up with other Yorkies - a fun one is the Mad Alice Bloody York Gin Tour: loads of gory history and three G&T stops at some of our best bars. What's not to love?

Just Smile Designs

About Them

I am a York based artist and creator of Just Smile Designs.

Since I can remember I've always been creative, making  paper clothing for my dolls and drawing my favourite tv characters. I have an obsession with drawing flowers and anything floral.

Just Smile Designs is a small greetings card and wedding stationery brand established in 2016 and moved into Spark York in May 18.

Why Should They Win?

My products are individually conceptualised and designed, then carefully packaged (all from recyclable materials!),  in my little studio shipping container in historic York, before they make their journey to new homes.

I wanted to name my shop something cute so everyone could remember and I came up with  Just Smile.  As when you receive a card from someone it puts a smile on your face.

I would love to win so I can get my brand name out further into the world!
